The Common App Is Getting a New Look

The New Common App Site Will Launch in July 2019 College-bound students looking to get a head start on their college apps this summer will be met with a refreshed Common App website, according to the popular college application platform. The new Common App site will launch in July, giving students a chance to become familiar with the new look before the 2019-20 application officially opens Aug. 1. RebrandingPart of the new launch is a rebranding of the Common App, with a new logo and color palette. Here’s a preview of the new look of the Common App website. Here’s a peek at what it will look like. (Source: The Common Application) New ResourcesIn addition to a new look, the Common App will also be launching some new tools in order to help students better navigate the college application process. According to the Common App this includes: Improved site search designed to provide easier access to critical college readiness resources Enhanced college search and robust member detail pages, including access to virtual campus tours and critical application requirements New application guides for first year and transfer applicants, developed to guide applicants step-by-step through the application process An expanded college roadmap, created to address the needs and pathways of all students, including community college students, adult and returning learners, and service members and military veterans (Source: The Common Application) At we advise students to start working on their college applications in the summer so that they can get a jump start and not be overwhelmed with applications in the fall. This is a great time for students to become familiar with the new look of the Common App and begin filling out their basic Common App info. Accounts created now can be rolled over when the application officially opens Aug. 1, preserving all information filled out in the main Common Application and students’ college lists. Keep in mind, however, that any information entered in the My Colleges tab will NOT roll over, as those are the school-specific supplements from the 2018-19 application season. Also keep in mind the Common App will be inaccessible for the system refresh starting July 28 and ending when the new application is officially open on Aug. 1.
